The main DAW's are Fl studio, Abbleton, Logic Pro, Pro tools.

Personally i prefer fl studio

I Highly recommend FL Studio, I use it and always will, Once you get a few sample packs and good vst's (Nexus, Massive, Sylenth) then your on your way with music production.

The best "software" for a natural sound would probably be a real life drum kit!
Musicians and musically minded people really appreciate a song that is all really made by the artist and not a computer.

Ableton if I was you! Skrillex uses it!

Don't even START with that excuse.

And every electronic song there is isn't just randomly generated in a DAW, it takes days, weeks, even months to make a song, just like real music. Everything is hand placed, EQ'd, Mixed, then Mastered.

I'm not trashing electronic music. I'm just saying, most people who play instruments appreciate a natural sounding song. I was just pointing out that if he wants to get recognized as a well respected music maker by musicians, he should do something they'd appreciate. It depends on the reputation he wants in the music world, and who he would like to be associated with, as well as how serious he is going to take his ability to compose music.
