March 19, 2014 (6.2.10785.0 / xb_rel_1404.140313-2200) BETA

Advertised Features

  • Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.

  • Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. Well also add the ability to view friends most popular apps.

  • Blu-ray 50 Hz video output support for content recorded at 50 Hz will resolve video playback issues some Xbox Live members in Europe are experiencing.

  • Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands.
Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements.

  • Updates to Xbox One device management to address issues controlling TVs, set top boxes, and receivers that our customers have reported.

  • New audio settings to tune how much volume is lowered when Kinect is used in communications.

Now we are in the May beta dashboard 6.2.10943.0

Current Wave (1405)
Welcome to the 1405 update preview!

We have started to deploy the latest update for you to preview: 1405 (xb_rel_1405.140506-2200). Consoles that are in standby mode will be able to install the update starting at 6:00PM PDT on May 9th. If you want it right away, feel free to use the new System Updates button after 6PM! Simply check Settings>System, and if you see System update, click it to start your update. Consoles that have not received the update in standby mode or via the manual update button by 1:00AM PDT on May 11th will be prompted to install the update when they connect to Xbox Live.

Lets take a look at some of the changes and fixes youll be seeing in this preview!

Improvements and Fixes

Updates to help address issues where Game DVR clips may be recorded without audio.
Underlying OS changes required to enable planned 1405 features.
Get System Update button change. This update changes how the system update button works under Settings->System. Now the button will say "No update available" and be greyed out when there is no update, and it will say "Update console" and be active when an update is available.
Update to address issues some issues users noticed where Party Chat would be quiet unless the Party App is snapped.

New Additions

Snap and Kinect Audio Controls. We know you loved the brief view of the UI for this feature in the last wave, but it wasnt quite ready. Its now ready for everyone to give it a go! Adjust the volume differences between apps when you have one open in Snap, or adjust how much softer the audio is made when using Kinect for communication.
Opt-In to help us improve Speech Recognition. Were always looking to make Kinect Voice Recognition more accurate, and the more voices we have to fine tune our algorithms, the better it can be! As such, weve added an option under Settings>Privacy & Online Safety>Customizing privacy and online safety titled Share Voice Data. Setting this to Allow will allow us to use your voice data to make Kinect Voice Recognition better.
Test the System Update button! Now that the System Update button is available, we hope youll put it to use as new updates become available in this Wave! Try it out, and let us know of any issues you run into.
