Sanctorum wrote Firstly, that wasn't harassment but it was uncalled for. You shouldn't talk down to people who cut themselves, you're no better just because you haven't/don't self harm. Secondly, he should be suspended for having a dangerous weapon in school..

Anyway, I, myself, used to cut. I done it for self harming, but I also cut as a suicide attempt, to actually try and kill myself from blood loss. I cut my legs and chest, as well as the top of my arms. I cut where no one would be able to see. I can't explain the feeling, but it makes you feel so much better when you're upset/depressed. I actually tried to kill myself by doing it one night and sliced my wrist to shreds, it was a mess. I still hide my wrists to this day because of that. My scars have faded a lot now and they're hard to see unless you look for them but I still hide my wrists because I'm ashamed. It's been almost a year since I last cut now.

I do see where you are coming from though, I hate people who cut themselves for attention. I understand some people need attention, maybe they're in an unsuitable home and need taken out so resort to cutting. But, I can't stand the stupid little girls with perfect lives who cut themselves because One Direction didn't sign their poster or some sh*t, or because their boyfriend broke up with them, even though they're 12 years old. It's pathetic. My ex was like this and so was her stupid, little friend. They'd always boast about how they cut themselves and sh*t, would drive me nuts. If someone cuts themselves because they're depressed or truly want to die, they don't boast about it, they hide it because they're ashamed and I know this from experience.

Finally someone who understands the depth of 'real' cutting. I was in the same situation as you.
I used to cut, like, alot. I was at school one day and this kid (who's parents buy him everything, the latest iPhone, a car and insured it, they're also paying the first year of rent on his flat). He was complaining because he got grounded for a week, I remember sitting on the bus and seeing him show everyone his wrists like it was some huge achievement that should be praised. It made me feel physically sick, that he took a genuine problem and turned it into attention.
I didn't say anything to him, no one anywhere knows that I used to cut. It does feel like a shameful thing to have done. I hide it, and always will.

@OP I'm sure you've been told countless times, but you should try to put yourself into the other person's shoes, understand how they feel, before ripping into them like that. In retrospect it probably wasn't a good idea to keep going after he got upset. It's a very emotional subject.

UPDATE: After first period, I was called up to the office and I received a 3 day in school suspension and the guy received nothing. I'm irate over the fact that this kid got nothing for bringing a blade to school. For the people saying I was a jerk or whatever, I was never speaking to him personally but on an overall point of view since it was a class discussion. Imo, cuttingy yourself is pointless. If people want to end it all the "pain" they're going through, stop repeatedly making yourself bleed and do something about it. Apparently this kid had been cutting himself for 3 months now because his fish or whatever died. I find that completely ridiculous.

You honestly have no idea do you..

Yes the kid went about it the wrong way cutting at school and showing his cutting scars but telling him it's stupid to cut is not supporting. Maybe you should ask him why and try to help

In my teens I got bullied a lot and I don't mean name calling I mean bullying that left me beat up and scared to go to school and in all around depressed cos I was under achieving over some people who thought giving me black eyes and bruises funny.

I cut for quite awhile It's an emotional feeling outside pain is more barable than the thought of lingering inside pain so even the slightest distraction can help.

I'm not saying cutting is right and I don't think it should be discussed on this forum not because it's a gaming forum because the age rate on this site is too young to have a solid opinion on the matter

Depression happens as a teenager and people should support not distort..

When people cut themselves... My question is how in the world can they survive the pain in their arm?
I was going to cut myself once to see what it felt like but I was to scared it was going to hurt.
So how?

Motioncorey wrote In class today(last period), and I ended up making a boy cry because:

I was talking about how ridiculous the idea of cutting themselves was(random class talk session) and this boy screamed and said I was a homophobe and said I had no idea what it's like to be made fun of. It went on with him showing cuts all on his arms and legs and talking about how he cuts himself. This is where he began to cry.

I then proceeded to say, and I quote,

"...really..are you serious? Maybe if you weren't telling people you cut yourself, they wouldn't label you and you wouldn't be made fun of. You guys always say you cut yourself because you don't know what to do. If you were truly depressed, you'd seek help because cutting yourself until you look like a scratch board will definitely not help you."

He proceeded to cry and ran out the classroom. The part that that infuriated me was when he came back with a razor blade in his hand and blood on his fingers. The teacher of course rushed him to the nurse where he remained for the rest of the day; I'm guessing he got checked out.

What do you guys think about this because apparently, I'm facing a possible suspension for harassment.

Was he an
EMO

or just depressed or there is something physiologically wrong with him

I don't agree with the idea that cutting yourself is 'pathetic', as some people would say, but I really don't see any point to it. Depression was still around in the 1500's, I'm almost 100% certain that you wouldn't read about people 100's of years ago cutting themselves as a mode of help or 'numbing the pain'. I don't mean to generalise, as I know not all 'emo's' cut, but it has been idolised by those few who do. I believe it started as a way to get attention (Which is why people think it's 'pathetic') but has now been adopted as a cure for depression.

Hmm, i think that its stupid to cut, just image a few years later after cutting and seeing scars, just think to yourself, was it worth it? Just speak to close friends or specialists
