760 > 280X > 770

So yes, if you can afford it, get the 770.

What are your current specs?

I don't understand why you would put the 280x ahead of the 770. I know the 280x has more VRAM, but the 770 is faster and it's cheaper. Well at least here in the US. ac)

He means the 770 is better than the 280X, I think!
770>280X>760
Best-worst

OP- The GTX 770 is your best bet, if you have the money for it. Although, the GTX 660 is still a great card. I would recommend upgrading mobo and CPU if you have the time and money. The FX series of CPU are kind of dying out now. Upgrading to a 4th generation Intel CPU would be a good decision.

For 1080p gaming 2-3GB of VRAM is plenty, but the 770 does beat the 280X in games, not by much, but it is better.

No, I was asking why did you put "760 > 280X > 770". It should be 770 > 280x > 760.
I'm just saying, so OP & the other people reading this don't get confused.

If you were planning to change both processor and motherboard Intel LGA1150 should be the direction you're looking at. If you wanted a overclockable i5 then its the 4670k but if you didn't then there are many other cheaper i5's without overclocking support.

As for the motherboard you can actually get decently priced mATX motherboards, with Haswell the code name for chips currently on LGA1150 you would need a motherboard with either a Z87 or H87 chipset to support SLI, but make sure to double check with H87 boards as even though Intel allows dual cards, most manufacturers want to push you towards the top of the line Z87.

Below is my board of choice, it will take two cards and would overclock nicely too, at under a hundred pounds.
