Well, there are "Emo" bands. It's just a genre. But, most people when they hear "Emo", they instantly think it's the same thing as this magical, made up genre called "Screamo". And, even when people say it's "Screamo", they usually mean sub genres of metal. I find it sad that the word "Emo" is also thought to be a style, rather than a genre. I completely agree with this topic and most responses, though.

Calling a genre Emo, isn't very concerning to me. If that's what people label it as, not that big of a deal. Seeing as though most people that call it Emo, are people that don't indulge in that type of music anyhow. That goes the same for the word "Screamo." I use it to describe my culture of music to others that are at the other end of the spectrum when it comes to music preference. Because by saying "Post-Hardcore" or "Metalcore" it usually produces a "wtf is that" face. So by using Screamo as a label they have a better description of the music type. Now, if I am talking to others that like the same music as I do (very rare, unfortunately), ill use the more technical term.

I'm also not sure if you misread the title of the thread or not, but it didn't ask for any opinions about listening to this specific genre.
