Long story short. I was scammed on Craiglist for a "Brand New" Xbox One. I did inspect the unit before paying the money the little do I know that the unit is infested with "pest". I cannot clean them out without voiding the warranty.

I found a post about gut-swap back in 2010 for Xbox 360. If I want to swap the console out at Wal-Mart...What do you think?

My method is to buy a new console and return with another console using the new box. Please advice. All comments (good and bad) are welcome. But I do not want to hear about "Why not clean the pest" or "You will go to jail". I realized the risk and thus bring the conversation to TTG where a lot of...experts(?) reside.

As for why Wal-Mart...they have so many negatives feedback for their employees and I feel Wal-mart's return clerks are easiest compare to Fry's, Bestbuy, and other stores.

What I want is wait couple of days and return the unit as 'defect' so it will ship back to Microsoft and not get restock. Any thoughts?

If it doesn't goes as planned. I am looking at two possibilities:

1. refuse to refund or exchange
2. Go straight to Jail.

please noted. I am sitting with a $450 Xbox One console with unwelcome guests in it. Before you say anything funny, think of the situation I am in and then say it.

So to save $50, this whole thing sure blew up in your face.

Hate to say it but, you're foolish to buy it without a warrenty from a store

You have no options except your idea to defraud walmart lol

Thanks for the reality. The console I bought from Craiglist did come with Receipt from BestBuy and it is within 30 days. What I didnt know is Bestbuy offer returns only 15 days.

edit: and remember... $50 is 70-80% for new game like Titan Fall, and Watch Dog. Yeah I was foolish but it happens and I can't turn back time.

Or if anyone knows how to GAS a console or has done it before. I'm all ears.

You don't need to gas the console, cover it air tight (with plastic wrap) and leave it for a few days. The pests will die of suffocation.

I have a solution for you.
Take the console and put it in your freezer for 2 - 4 days. if you are worried about the pest's getting into everything in your freezer, just get a large zip-lock bag or wrap it with plastic wrap.. And to answer the question of "will it mess my console up, being that cold?" - No. just let it sit in room temperature for a couple hours before you to use it.
You're welcome.
