Takes around 5 minutes for me to render a 10 minute elgato file and 2 hours for a 10 minute fraps one. Any fixes or solutions that you guys can think of for this?

Put them in Windows movie maker. It's a free program by Microsoft. It greatly reduces the size of the videos while maintaining the quality.

Just compress them using some kind of program. Easiest way.

I can vouch for that! When I used to use fraps it would take 2GB Files down to 600MB under.

The filesize is big because there isnt enough time to encode the movie while the game is running. The movie frames are slightly compressed, but still require a large amount of disk space due to the high resolutions. Once you have finished capturing you should convert the saved AVI into one of the popular compressed movie formats such as mpeg.

Convert to .mp4 with freemake or compress with handbrake.
