Synopsis
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (& AT Mario to Sonikku ato Pekin Orinpikku?, lit. "Mario & Sonic at the Beijing Olympics"), is a crossover sports game developed by the Sega Sports R&D Department of Sega Japan. It was published by Nintendo for Japan and by Sega for North America, Europe and all other regions. The game is officially licensed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through exclusive licensee International Sports Multimedia (ISM). The game is the first official crossover title to feature characters from both Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog's respective series. It was released on the Wii in November 2007 and the Nintendo DS handheld in January 2008, and is the first official video game of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

Gameplay
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games is based off of 24 events on the Olympic Games. The game brings two titular characters and fourteen more from both franchises leading to play in event of the Olympics in Beijing 2008. That way the player has a wide variety of games and characters to choose from. Each character has there own statistics for each certain game type. They are divided into four abilities speed, power, skill and all-round. The Wii has additional characters to choose from because you can choose your Miis as your character. Both versions of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games have similar game modes, Circuit mode, single match, and Mission Mode. Circuit mode is where players compete to get the highest overall score. In single match the player(s) can choose to play events individually. In mission mode of course the player is in a little campaign mode where you have to complete certain missions, but with a bad skill character to make it more of a challenge. There is a versus mode which is always fun to play, and have a little fun with unskilled people or trying to beat a hard skilled player.

Graphics
This games graphics are pretty good for a 2007 game for Wii and DS. The environments are cool, the environments are stylized to fit the futuristic and cartoon-like styles from both franchises. The characters are really detailed looking and his funny to see each one of them in a certain event that you wouldnt think they'd be in. Now since there is a lot of choices to choose from in game types, both franchises had to work harder on each of the animations of each thing and make there character look like there doing that, animations are very good. Overall graphics are great for 2007 game like this.

Controls
Controls on the Wii are as simple as can be and make perfect sense. On the Wii it consists of using the motion sensor in the wii remote. The player moves the remote as they would in real life in a similar manner. For example in table tennis the player swings his remote to act like he is hitting the ball back. I have yet to play this game on the DS so i dont about anything on that, but overall the Wii controls are fantastic and I would imagine the same with the DS.
