Game Information
Name: Over G Fighters
Genre: Combat fight simulator
Release Date: February 23, 2006
Developers: Taito Corporation
Publishers: Ubisoft
Age rating: 12+
Modes: Single-player, Multi-player
Console(s): Xbox 360

Plot
Just as war finishes and the world is finally coming together in peace, a large scale terrorist organisation begins to threaten and lead out attacks all over the planet. A small force called the Energy Air force is created with the most skilled pilots from all around the world. These men are selected to finally bring peace and unification back to the world and by stopping and defeating this terrorist organisation. To make the plot nice and neat, the pilots go through many battles, fighting enemy aircraft and destroying key terrorist infrastructure, eventually driving terrorism off of the planet and restoring peace to the world.

Gameplay
Over G Fighters consists of a single-player mode which can be broken down into two different sections, scenario and challenge, and a multi-player mode. Scenario is the campaign where the player must complete set objectives to progress and unlock the next mission. Challenge mode is simply taking out some parts of the scenario to play quickly and replay once the player has moved onto a further mission in scenario mode. This game can be played from either first-person view or third-person view which allows the player to game in a way best suited to his abilities. Over G Fighters has a very large variety or aircraft to choose from with nearly thirty unique planes for the player to control, all with different attributes. There is also a selection of pilots to choose from which all have different skills so the player can select the pilot he will work the best with. Multi-player consists of just two game modes called Versus and Arena. Versus is practically a Team Death match in aircraft where there are two teams that have to eliminate all other aircraft to win the game. Versus mode can be set up by a player to change the setting slightly to his preferences. Arena mode is all about attacking and destroying enemy ground targets with four different teams. There is one major flaw worth pointing out about this game, every time an achievement pops up after scenario is complete, the game freezes forcing the player to replay the mission. This issue has only been reported amongst some players but it is very annoying if it happens to you.

Graphics
Over G Fighters had acceptable graphics during its time of release, which obviously wouldnt match up to graphic standards now but the game is still enjoyable and the graphics do not really hinder gameplay. The graphics inside the cockpit are very good and look smooth and realistic, however the environment graphics are quite a letdown. The graphics can look quite good from one angle, but from another, look very rough and bad quality. The game sound is very simple and nothing special is really there, however the voice acting can get very annoying very quickly, with pilots saying the same thing in very annoying voices. Overall the graphics dont really do anything for the game but nothing against it either.

Controls
A flight simulator without a joystick is something quite different. Most flight simulator fans are used to playing their games using a joystick as it is much easier than using a mouse and a keyboard, however since this game is only on the Xbox 360 console, players have no choice but to use their Xbox 360 controllers. The controls are quite similar to most vehicular game where altitude and speed and be changed using the thumb sticks and bumper buttons. Attacking enemy aircraft and bases is very easy to do, however, there are very limited methods of attack which makes the controls very simple, but quite boring. Most experienced gamers will find the controls a walk in the park, but it may not be the best game to start out with if you are new the console gaming.

Oh my, nice review man. I absolutely love this game!
Great review

I personally enjoy this game online with friends. Yeah, it's more or less impossible to find a game online now, but if you're lucky enough to find a handful of people to jump online with, it's fun as hell.

Once again, nice review!

I enjoy reading all of your reviews. All of them are well done, and there are many! That leads me to my point of this reply, HOW can you NOT have the Game Reviewer badge yet?
