So if i am running parallels desktop on my mac so i can use windows applications, if i get a virus on the windows parallel will it also affect my mac

I don't know a whole alot about Macs, but I'd be willing to guess no.

I'm not sure if your referring to dual booting.
If so, I'm pretty sure it won't because your two operating systems are into different partitions which when your mac partition is loaded the virus wouldn't even be able to access your computer.
If you meant some sort of emulation or installing in a virtual machine, I don't believe it would matter either because a mac application is different then a usual windows extension.
A lot of windows viruses are packed into a .exe which obviously wouldn't work correctly on a mac. I guess that's an easy explanation?
